Social media is huge. The likes of Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook are all around us – you would have to walk around with your eyes closed to miss them. The increased presence of social media brings a big fat opportunity to expand your brand or business. With consistent networking, you could be branching out far and wide, gaining real recognition.

It may seem simple, but it is often forgotten – consistency is one of the best ways that you can help your business to stand out from the crowd. To create stable and eye-catching social media, it is important that your profiles mirror each other. Whether you are only using Facebook, or are using a multitude of social media platforms, creating a consistent brand throughout is imperative. A seemingly obvious way to do this is through having an attractive profile picture, used for all social networks. This way, not only are you standing out to a wider target audience, but a person may stumble across you on Instagram, and then seek you on Facebook. More views = more followers = more business.

The picture you use is of great importance – it needs to draw the audience in. Assuming that you’re a business, this should be your logo. For a great logo, use bright, bold colors and clear fonts. Don’t overdo it – it doesn’t need to be an artistic masterpiece – simple and clear is much more memorable. The colors in your logo will become a theme for your brand, so this color scheme should flow as such throughout your social networks.

If you don’t already have a logo created or any ideas yourself, some websites can design logos for you, some of which even for free. However, try and avoid the first one you stumble across, as you don’t want it to be too similar to another business’ logo. If you are starting and do opt for one of these logos, it is worth at least editing it to make it more personal to your brand. When uploading your profile picture, make sure that you are using the right size format for the photos on your social networks, in case it becomes distorted and looks messy!

Another way to improve consistency within your social media is through  a slogan. A short, concise summary of what your brand offers. Slogans work best when they are cleverly worded. If you’re feeling creative, then you could try and think of a catchy pun to use. These will be more memorable and make you stand out more. You could also use some social media buzzwords within this. Be smart, but make sure you’re also professional! This slogan should be included on all social networks and websites. You could also add this slogan as a hashtag at the end of each post made from your social media, for consistency.

Of course, there are a whole host of elements to consider when creating or improving your social networks. But to grow your brand and reach more of your target audience, consistency is critical.
