It can be difficult for some people to have a good work-life balance. After all, they might be working all the hours under the sun to keep their household afloat. Talk to your employer about going flexible with your hours
It’s never good to keep your feeling bottled up. After all, it can lead you to end up suffering from overwhelming stress. And your emotions can go wayward if you are keeping everything to yourself. Therefore, it’s time to open up if you feel like you have a poor work-life balance. And the best person who can change things for you is your boss. After all, your employer wants to ensure you stay happy while you are at the workplace. And if you have been there a long-time, they won’t want to lose a hard working and dedicated employee. Therefore, tell them how you feel about your hours. Explain to them how you would like to be able to spend more time at home with your family. Or even be able to take up more hobbies in your spare time. And talk to them about going more flexible with your hours. After all, as long as you get the work done, they might be open about your hours. For instance, you might be able to go in later some days. Or you could start early on a couple of weekdays so you can spend more time at home with your kids. Also, they might let you work from home one or two days a week. After all, you might be able to do the work from the comfort of your computer. And while you might get nowhere, it’s still worth asking your employer. After all, you never know, they might say yes, so that they can keep you on board!
Time to consider getting a job where you work from home
Due to the internet, it has meant there is now a broader range of jobs you can do from home. There are opportunities from freelance writing to teaching English. After all, you can just log onto your computer and start working in the modern world (as long as you have a good internet connection!) Therefore, a lot of people are doing this to ensure they have a better work-life balance. After all, they can take on roles they can just do from their home office. And then they can finish earlier in the day so they can have more of a life! In fact, people are working all sorts of hours rather than sticking to 9-5 when they work from home! It’s also ideal for moms who don’t want to be away from their kids every day. After all, there are lots of jobs for stay at home moms which they can fit around their children. Therefore, they don’t miss out on any of their development while still earning a wage which is necessary in the modern climate. So look online to hunt down jobs which you can do from the comfort of your office.
Learn to say no sometimes to extra work
You might be surprised how many people struggle to say no when it comes to things like extra shifts and overtime. After all, they don’t want to let their boss or colleagues down. So it means they say yes, even if they have already worked a load of shifts already, and despite the fact, it means they will have to spend even more time away from their family. And we are always striving to earn extra money which can also result in us agreeing to do extra shifts. But if you are always working extra, you are going to struggle to get a good work-life balance. In fact, you might end up working yourself into the ground as you never get a break. And that is where mental health issues can arise like depression and anxiety. Therefore, to ensure you do get a good balance in your life, you need to learn to say no sometimes. It might be the case that it surprises your employer if you are the person they rely on for extra work. But if it’s not part of your normal shifts, you have every right to say no. And as long as you do the occasional extra shift, they will not mind you turning down the work. If it does prove a problem, you should look into finding another job where you don’t have to work every hour! And ensuring you do get to go home on time means you can get some form of a life as well as your work.
Do take your annual leave
A lot of people don’t make the most of their annual leave from work. In fact, they often end up skipping taking the days which means they lose them at the end of the year. Or they even just put it on their wages rather than taking the days as holiday. But if you want to have a good work-life balance, you do need to make an effort to take your annual leave. After all, you need the time to relax with your family and friends. At the end of the day, vacations create long-lasting memories. Therefore, do book of the days and make sure work is a limited discussion during your time away from the office. Do turn off your phone; it can be hard, but it’s the only way to truly relax during your time away!
